ARE THESE TRAYS NON SLIP ?

Our Trove Lap Trays have a "slip resistant" surface and are slightly more slip resistant that many other lap tray brands, but are not "non slip". They have a high quality matt laminated surface, which makes them easy to wipe down and keep clean. Our buyers find them fit for purpose for eating and drinking off, as well as lap top and tablet use.

HOW THICK/DEEP IS THE CUSHION ?

Our Lap Tray cushions are filled to capacity (almost overfilled), as we allow for the "beans" to naturally reducing in size after a couple of months of use. You therefore end up with a still generously filled, ultra comfortable cushion.
A new STANDARD Lap tray cushion is between 7 to 8cm deep, but should settle to around 6cm.

ANSWER: I bought a large tray as a present for an elderly lady, but as I recall it is quite a sturdy cushion in contrast to the one I own. I would say it measures between 3.5 and 4 inches (9/10 cm) including the tray. It is a very fine tray and I was proud to present it to my friend. Hope this is of help. MEL. WHICH SIZE SHOULD I CHOOSE, THE STANDARD OR LARGE ?
ANSWER: I have bought the standard and the large tray for laptop and mouse. If you just want space for a plate, glass and knife and fork these can be squeezed onto standard tray. I would personally go for the large tray because there is plenty of room for a dinner plate glass, utensils and some condiments AND you can use it for several uses, laptop, writing etc. I hope this helps.
ANSWER: I bought the larger tray and use it for my laptop, but you could fit a plate and glass tumbler on it for using while watching television. The tray is large and stable, so you could, but don't know if I'd risk an actual wine glass!

IS THE CUSHION COVER WASHABLE?

The cushion covers are not removable so you can't put them in a washing machine. They are however made of a decent quality, hardy polyester, so don't stain easily and can be wiped down with a damp cloth if necessary. By TROVE TRAYS on 01 November 2019
ANSWER: Not really. You'd have to dismantle the tray to get the cover off - and what would you do with the polystyrene balls? They don't stain easily, though, and can be sponged/wiped down. ANSWER: They are really lovely trays, very deep filling, however, I thought that the surface of the tray would be non slip, which is why I was happy to pay what I consider to be an above average price for a lap tray, but they are not non slip and you need either a non slip mat or tea towel to stop your plate from swishing about. WHY ARE TROVE TRAYS MORE EXPENSIVE THAN MANY OTHERS AVAILABLE TO BUY IN THE UK ?

The many cheaper, imported, mass produced Chinese trays on the UK market have very thin cushions, are badly made and the frames invariably fall apart in a short space of time. Design quality and print colour are generally poor and it’s almost impossible to find classy looking trays with either neutral or contemporary looking patterns. The range of Chinese designs is also limited due to UK importers having to order minimum quantities of a single design into the UK to make it viable.
Trove Trays are different in that we’re able to offer a large selection of unique designs, carefully considered to either blend into or complement classic or contemporary homes. The further option of being able to choose from 4 frame colours and 3 cushion colours means you’re certain to find a perfect fit for your particular interior decor scheme.

HOW DOES THIS TRAY HELP TO KEEP A LAPTOP COOL ?

CAN YOU CUSTOMISE THE TRAYS TOP DESIGN ?

Yes, we are able to customise our lap tray tops using your own image.
Your photo needs to be in a Jpeg or PDF format. For best results please make sure it's as large as possible, between 1mb and 10mb in size and ideally in a landscape orientation rather than portrait. Our lap trays are used in a landscape position so that the long sides go across your lap. Do take into account the proportions of our 2 lap tray sizes: 41 OR 56 wide x 32 depth. We would crop your image to it's most advantageous proportion.
If your photo was taken by a mobile phone camera, the chances are the image will be too small. If the photo was taken on a digital camera then it should large enough to fit a Trove lap tray.
It can be fun searching for a free image on Google Images or if you wanted to buy one, you could search iStock, Getty Images or Shutterstock etc. They should not be very expensive as it's just for your personal use. You can often sign up for a free trial and then cancel it.
HOW DO I CARE FOR MY LAP TRAY ? WILL MY DESIGN FADE OVER TIME ?

TROVE lap trays can be cared for with minimal effort. A damp, soft cloth is all that is needed to clean the durable surface. No cleaning agents or rough Brillo pads should be used. Hot plates cannot be used directly on the surface, but warm plates are fine. All our designs are printed with special inks that will not fade for up to 40 years.

WHAT ARE YOUR FRAMES MADE OF AND WHAT IS THE FINISH LIKE ?

All of our frames are made of a durable rigid polymer plastic, which has advantages over the wood in that it doesn’t swell when liquids are split on it.
Our SILVER frame has a slight metallic sheen to it with a subtle, elegant looking finish. We describe it as a pale bronze silver, which is great for contemporary interiors as it can blend into Silver, Bronze or Gold decor schemes.
Our WOOD effect frame is also very contemporary looking with a teak colour tone, making it the perfect partner for the current mid century retro furniture look that complements grey, tan and black colour schemes.
